We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Corporate Bookkeeper to oversee full-cycle accounting and financial operations across a diverse portfolio of 18 related companies, including hotel and restaurant operations.
This is a dynamic and impactful role for a finance professional who thrives in a multi-entity environment and brings a strong understanding of hospitality accounting. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making that drives business success.
Working closely with the Controller, this position is essential to maintaining financial integrity, optimizing processes, and ensuring seamless month-end and year-end operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Month-End Accounting & Financial Reporting (18 Companies)
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Prepare internal financial summaries with variance analysis and insightful commentary
- Calculate and monitor hotel and restaurant revenues
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions
Year-End Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare comprehensive working paper files for all entities
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules
- Organize year-end documentation for Comptroller review
- Assist in preparing year-end files for external accountants for corporate tax filings
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
HST & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and reconcile HST returns for all entities
- Post HST-related journal entries
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and clear audit trails
- Ensure timely and accurate filing readiness
Accounts Receivable & Cash Management
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage customer accounts and support collection efforts
- Monitor daily cash flow and maintain operational liquidity
- Execute cash handling procedures, including deposits, safes, and petty cash
- Administer gratuities, including tip pools and banquet distributions
Financial Analysis & Operational Support
- Review hotel audits across multiple properties and make necessary adjustments
- Conduct financial analysis to support leadership decision-making
- Identify discrepancies and proactively implement corrective actions
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts and ensure proper documentation practices
- Support process improvements and ongoing accounting efficiencies
- Assist the Controller with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience (hospitality experience strongly preferred)
- Experience managing multiple entities is a strong asset
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and reconciliations
- Proficiency in Sage 50 and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of hospitality financial practices and controls
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
